IPL 2024 Auctions were filled with a lot of surprises. While some relatively unknown cricketers went for a huge sum, some popular names attracted interest from only team. On that note, here, we take a look at the best XI of cricketers sold at their base price in IPL 2024 Auctions.
Note: The playing XI is as per the IPL rule of four foreigners in the playing XI.
Openers: KS Bharat (WK) and Manish Pandey
KKR needed an Indian wicket-keeper and also a backup Indian batter. Fortunately, they did not have to spend a lot to hire these cricketers. They could get both KS Bharat and Manish Pandey at their base price of INR 0.5 Cr. It would not be a surprise if one of these two opens the batting for the team.
Middle-Order: Ricky Bhui and Tristan Stubbs
There was not a lot of demand for middle-order batters. Teams were only looking to fill their games. In this regard, many batters were sold at their base price. For the balance of the side, we have just two names here, with Tristan Stubbs being the notable mention.
All-Rounders: Arishin Kulkarni, Azmatullah Omarzai, Shreyas Gopal and Wanindu Hasaranga
There was a lot of demand for all-rounders in IPL 2024 Auctions. However, a few of them did not receive a lot of interest. We saw the likes of Omarzai and Hasaranga getting sold at their base price while a prodigy like Arishin was also sold at his base price. All of them are a part of this category.
Bowlers: Chetan Sakariya, Rasikh Dar and Mustafizur Rahman
While fast bowlers ruled the auctions, some names such as Chetan Sakariya and Mustafizur could not fetch a lot of bids. They would lead this attack. Rasikh Dar from Jammu & Kashmir is an interesting acquisition by Delhi Capitals in the auctions.
