In the last few seasons, Rahane has not been in great form in the IPL. Even when he did well, the strike rate was not impressive. He was dropped from the captaincy at RR and was later traded to Delhi Capitals. At DC, he had to sit out on most days. Last year, he got a chance at KKR but it did not work out for him there, as well. In the end, he was dropped from the playing XI.
However, at CSK, Rahane has been breathing fire. On Sunday, he scored 6 fours and 5 sixes to score 71 runs in just 29 balls. It was a terrific knock by the veteran, which helped CSK register a massive score of 235 in the first innings. Not many have seen a turnaround like this for a cricketer in the IPL. Now that Rahane is performing like this, it won’t be a surprise if he makes a comeback to Team India. While the T20I squad may not have a spot for him, with Shreyas Iyer injured, he could be in line for a spot in the WTC Final squad.
