Brock Lesnar vs Gunther was a much talked about match in the making. According to rumors, The Beast Incarnate was going to face The Ring General at SummerSlam this year. However, it seems this match is not happening anymore.
One of the top 4 PPVs of the year, SummerSlam, is happening on August 5th, at Detroit, Michigan. WWE is returning to the venue for the first time since WrestleMania 23, 2007. Brock and Gunther had a brief stare-down during the Royal Rumble match this year in January.
This got the WWE Universe excited about this unique encounter and sent the grapevine buzzing on a potential match-up. Many rumors were doing the rounds that this encounter will be happening at SummerSlam 2023.

Unfortunately, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter states that WWE has given up on the idea of these two big names colliding. Wrestle Talk News also confirmed the same, saying, “Right now there are no plans for Lesnar vs. Gunther at SummerSlam or Lesnar vs. Gunther any time soon. Of course that can change because it is a viable match but if Lesnar is scheduled on SummerSlam there is already a direction that isn’t Gunther.”
At WrestleMania 39 last month, both Brock and Gunther dominated. Brock defeated the Nigerian Giant Omos and Gunther also won his triple threat match against Sheamus and Drew McIntyre, retaining his Intercontinental title.
Is Brock Lesnar Vs Gunther Still A Possibility?

On a recent ESPN interview, former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier asked Lesnar if he still wanted a match with the Intercontinental Champion. To this, the former UFC Heavyweight Champion Lesnar replied simply with an “I do”. Gunther had also expressed his desire to lock horns with Brock back in January on the Battleground Podcast.
This special match-up may be down but is not out from this year’s itiniary.
