When MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings take on Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians in the 11th match of the Indian Premier League at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, cricket fans across the world will be treated to the Indian version of “El Clasico” for IPL 2023.
The game will be Mumbai’s second of the year. After losing their season opener to Virat Kohli and the RCB, the hosts are still looking for their first win of the year. In contrast, CSK’s record is 1 victory and 1 loss.
Head-to-head, Mumbai Indians have beaten Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede and throughout the league, but they’ll need their bowlers to figure out how to slow down Ruturaj Gaikwad, who’s off to a red-hot start.
The fans in Chepauk had been waiting for 1,426 days to finally get to witness their ‘Thala,’ MS Dhoni, and the rest of the squad play. In the end, Chennai Super Kings gave them a night to remember, beating Lucknow Super Giants by a score of 12 runs.
CSK fans arrived to the Wankhede stadium two hours ahead of the game
On Sunday, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated five-time winners Mumbai Indians by an eight-wicket margin thanks to half-centuries from Virat Kohli and captain Faf du Plesiss. RCB chased down the target in 16.2 overs, with Kohli remaining undefeated on 82 off 49 deliveries and du Plessis contributing 73 off 43 balls.
All-rounder Ben Stokes is questionable for Saturday night’s Indian Premier League matchup between the Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings.
According to reports in The Indian Express, Stokes was recommended to take 10 days off after experiencing heel soreness during Friday’s practice at Wankhede Stadium.
Wankhede Stadium administrators are having a hard time keeping up with the surging demand for tickets to Saturday night’s match between the two most successful clubs in Indian Premier League history. Meanwhile, CSK fans arrived to Wankhede stadium two hours ahead of the game
