The third Test between India and Australia is all set to take place from 1st to 5th March in Indore. The visitors are already 2-0 down in the series and things are getting even worse for them. Skipper Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the upcoming game.
The pacer after the second game rushed back to home due to a family illness and was expected to return for their third Test. But it has now been confirmed that he won’t return for the Indore game. With Cummins being ruled out of the game, it paves an opportunity for Steve Smith to captain the team.
Smith, who is the vice-captain of the Test team, has been promoted for the Indore Test. The right-hander notably, was Australia’s full-time skipper in the longest format of the game before he was sacked due to the sandpaper gate.
It’ll be a great opportunity for Steve Smith to lift his side and prove his prowess as a captain once again. Australia has suffered two massive losses in the first two games and the onus will on Smith to lead the comeback for his side.
