India is all set to kick start the year 2023 with a white-ball series against Sri Lanka. They will play as many as three ODIs and three T20Is, which will be played from 3rd January to 7th January whereas the 50-over games will be played from 10th to 15th January.
However, with just a few days remaining for the series, the squad of the Indian team is yet to be announced as no there is no selection committee and it is learned as the reports in Cricbuzz that the Chetan Sharma selection panel reportedly may be asked to pick the team against the Sri Lanka series
Chetan Sharma-led selection panel was sacked by the newly appointed BCCI President Roger Binny after India’s disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup 2022.
The selection panel’s performance too was not up to the mark and which is the main reason why BCCI didn’t extend their tenure. They continuously kept rotating the players in the build-up to the tournament and didn’t keep the consistent side, which in turn saw India failing to pick the right XI in the World Cup.
BCCI has received applications for the selection panel. However, no official decision has been made yet. It remains to be seen who will the governing body appoint as the new selectors.
