Shawn Michaels recently confirmed that he will never come out of retirement and have one more WWE match. Michaels had his last singles WWE match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania, where he had put his career on the line to break The Undertaker’s streak. However, the Deadman emerged victorious in that clash.
Since then, Michaels has made regular appearances for WWE. He also came out of retirement for a dream match back in 2018. Michaels teamed up with his DX teammate Triple H to take on the Brothers of Destruction at WWE Crown Jewel 2018. It was not the best match of any of the four legends involved, but fans enjoyed the in-ring work of Shawn Michaels.
After that match, the rumor mill was abuzz with the claim that Michaels would come out of retirement for one more match. Rumors even claimed that AJ Styles could be his opponent in his last-ever singles match. However, Michaels has now confirmed that he will never come out of retirement.
“Yeah, I’ve had that final match. No, father time waits on no man. I’m good, I’m unbelievably happy with my career, and it is now time to watch the next generation flourish,” Michaels said in an interview with Culture State.
Fans react to idea of Shawn Michaels returning in WWE Royal Rumble match
Sharing the link of this interview on a Twitter, a fan pitched the idea of Michaels coming back to the ring for one more match. Explaining the reasoning behind the opinion, the fan wrote that Shawn should have one more match just so that fans do not remember the Crown Jewel match as his last.
Most fans felt that Michaels’ last match was at WrestleMania only as they refused to acknowledge the match at Crown Jewel. Some even pitched the idea of him returning at Royal Rumble 2023. Here are some of the top Twitter reactions:
Do you think Shawn Michaels should have one more last match to take the stink off his last at Crown Jewel? https://t.co/0pVPUjM0Hn pic.twitter.com/YS0kr3wSrg

No. Let these guys retire and stay retired. I can't think of many if any wrestlers who retired once and stayed retired. Like, not even having a single match after their retirement. Stine Cold did until this year.

His last match was at Wrestlemania 26. He retired and we cried and the rest is history.
and we're gonna keep it like that… pic.twitter.com/qlg2QMMnk6

The talent today could probably carry Shawn Michaels to an incredible last match. If it’s done with care, we could have a real moment here.

No. His last match was at WrestleMania 26.
Just like Floyd Mayweather Jr. has exhibition fights that doesn’t count on his record if he loses the Crown Jewel match was an exhibition match that doesn’t count for HBK. We don’t acknowledge this.

honestly yeah. I know everyone here wants to say his Mania 26 match was his last one, understandably so, but the match still happened no matter what we say. he should have one last match & it should be 1 on 1 against an opponent who could really carry a match well with Shawn

If he absolutely positively had to come back for another match, it would have to be against someone in NXT who had it out for him. They could basically run the Summerslam 02 angle beat for beat and it would be killer.

I have no memory of such a match at crown jewel. All the video and pics are faked in my mind. Michaels’ last match was at WM against the undertaker
