R Ashwin smashes his 13th fifty in the Test
Indian all-rounder R Ashwin played yet another sensational innings, batting lower down the order in the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh in Chattogram. It was a much-needed knock from the team’s perspective as it helped India go past 350 runs on the board.
Ashwin came to bat at the start of Day 2 when India was 278/6. The all-rounder looked settled and rock solid right from ball 1 and after the wicket of Shreyas Iyer, he took complete control and scored runs along with his staggering defensive technique.
Ashwin scored his half-century in 91 balls and also smashed 2 Fours and 2 sixes in his half-century. It’s fair to say that he looked more settled than most of the Indian batters on this surface. He along with Kuldeep Yadav has stitched an 80-plus partnership and is only making his side’s position strong in the match.
Ashwin has made Bangladesh bowlers look clueless and have made them work hard. The right-hander scored 58 runs in 113 balls before he was stumped. He notably, has been staggering for India at No.8 as he has smashed around 3000 runs along with 13 fifties and 5 hundreds.
