In what was a dominating win, New Zealand pounded India by 7 wickets in the first ODI in Auckland to take a 1-0 lead in the series. They displayed a staggering performance and outclassed the visitors to assert their authority and continue their winning streak at home.
Asked to bat first, India had an exceptional start as Shikhar Dhawan (72) and Shubman Gill (50) played well for their 124 runs-opening partnership. Shreyas Iyer played his part too and played the anchor’s role, scoring 80 runs.
India lost wickets in quick succession in the middle but Iyer held one hand and along with a vital contributions from Sanju Samson (36) and Washington Sundar (37*) helped his side post a total of 306 runs on the board.
After that, they started pretty well with the ball as well as they removed three wickets for just 88 runs with Umran Malik breathing fire. But after that Indian bowlers had no answers to the onslaught by Tom Latham (145*) and Kane Williamson (94*), who stitched an unbeaten 221 runs partnership and guided their side home with 7 wickets in hand and take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Well, this went along expected lines. If you play an India-A team against the number 1 ODI team in their own backyard, what else would you expect.
Good experience for youngsters though. The issue is not putting that experience to use. Deserving players should not sit out the WC
