The IPL retention deadline for the next season is on November 15th. Hence, there have been numerous rumors regarding the choices of the franchises. As per reports, Australian cricketer Aaron Finch is likely to be released by KKR before the bidding event. One of the last-minute purchases for KKR in IPL 2022 Auctions was that of Alex Hales. It was a move that was appreciated by many. Since KKR had a lot of spin hitters in the top order and hence, they needed a pace basher like Hales. However, the Englishman pulled out of the competition. Although there were a lot of options in the market, the franchise went ahead with Aaron Finch, who had been performing badly in IPL and also for his country.
In the tournament, Finch yet again did not do well. Especially with the other openers also not firing, the signing of Finch did not end up as a good decision. In this context, the franchise is likely to release the Aussie skipper. Irrespective of the availability of Alex Hales, KKR might go ahead with the decision. KKR also traded Rahmanullah Gurbaz from Gujarat Titans and hence, they already have an option for the opening spot.
