As per reports, Shahrukh Khan could be released by Punjab Kings before IPL 2023 Auctions. The Tamil Nadu batter, sold for INR 9 Cr in IPL 2022 Auctions, could not justify his price tag in IPL 2022. Since then, his form has also dropped in domestic cricket. Hence, PBKS could release him, especially because they have unearthed Jitesh Sharma, who can don the role of a finisher. Nevertheless, there would still be demand for Shahrukh Khan. On that note, here, we take a look at three teams that can target Shahrukh Khan in the upcoming IPL 2023 Mini Auctions in December.
1) Chennai Super Kings
CSK did not have a great IPL 2022. The team would want to make a strong comeback to the tournament. Shahrukh is one cricketer whom they might target.
Having played the bulk of his career at Chepauk, Shahrukh would be useful for CSK. Moreover, he is a home-grown player and his signing would please the local fans. CSK anyways need an answer for the role of the finisher after MS Dhoni is done. Even in the presence of MSD, CSK would need another reliable option. In this regard, they can make a move for the cricketer.

RCB is one of the teams that can target Shahrukh Khan in the upcoming IPL 2023 Mini Auctions. If you take a look at RCB’s likely playing XI, the No.5 position is still vacant. Last season, the likes of Mahipal Lomror got an opportunity but he could not leave an impact.
RCB lacks the presence of raw power in the batting department. This aspect would help in the death overs, especially with Dinesh Karthik‘s range against pace at the other end. Hence, the franchise could target a player like Shahrukh Khan.
3) Sunrisers Hyderabad
SRH’s retainment of Abdul Samad did not work for both the player or the franchise. Shashank Singh showed promise but his form tapered off. In the finishing department, the franchise needs a solid option and Shahrukh Khan ticks the box in this context.
With Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram already in the middle order, the team combination would benefit from the presence of Shahrukh. Kane Williamson can then play freely knowing that there is sufficient reliable batting depth.
