Did WWE just confirm a rumored WrestleMania 39 match?

The biggest show of the year, Wrestlemania for its 39th edition is set to emanate from the hub of Hollywood next year, taking place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on April 1 and 2, 2023 as a two-day premium event.

Despite WrestleMania being months away, rumors have already been making the rounds on the dream matches that the fans can expect to see at SoFi stadium under the bright lights of Hollywood. One of those matches speculated to be penciled in for the event is The Franchise Player and Hollywood A-Lister, the 16-time World Champion John Cena in a one-on-one showdown against the blue-chip prospect of this era, Mr. Money in the Bank Austin Theory.

Mr. McMahon’s former protege has been visioned as the younger version of Cena himself due to his in-ring skill, charismatic enigma, and smooth ascend to the main event scene under the tutelage of The former Boss himself. Speculations began months before that WWE is planning a big showdown between Cena and Theory, earlier set to take place at WWE SummerSlam this year. Things even pointed towards that direction when the Face that runs the Place made his return to Monday Night RAW for the celebration of his 20th Anniversary in the company.

That night saw a backstage altercation between Cena and the cocky Theory igniting the fuel of a match between the two Superstars, however, due to Cena’s Hollywood commitments, things never came to fruition.

However, the latest episode of Smackdown has certainly ignited the fire once again during Theory’s match with Drew McIntyre. Long-time WWE commentator Michael Cole dropped a major hint about this rumored showdown during the match saying that “No doubt Austin Theory is one of most talented we have seen in a while. He could use an Attitude Adjustment though.”

Attitude Adjustment is John Cena’s finishing move and Cole name-dropping it could be a massive hint for WWE’s plans for a match between John Cena and Austin Theory at Wrestlemania 39.
