The stage is all set to host the mega cricketing event of this year, the Indian Premier League. This thirteenth edition will take place from September 19th, and the whole way up till the final encounter on November 10th. The tournament will take place in the U.A.E. across the venues of Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Today as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the official schedule for this season, the excitement level of fans is skyrocketing. Now with the onset of this new season, let’s take a look at the top 5 bowlers who have managed the most to hush the batsman’s willow for a complete over.
#1 Praveen Kumar [Retired]
Top up on the list is Meerut’s right-arm medium bowler, Praveen Kumar. With a total of 14 maiden overs to his name in his 10-year long career in this tournament has earned him this top spot. He played his first and last game of this league in the year 2008 and 2017 respectively. Though his lack of pace wasn’t much of a challenge, his skills and excellent command in swinging the ball was what made him unpredictable.
#2 Irfan Pathan [Retired]
This iconic Indian all-rounder should not come as a surprise on this list. Having played more than a hundred(103) matches in this league, made him an experienced and skilled hunter. He has a total of 10 maiden overs with an excellent economy rate of just 7.77. This fickle left-arm fast-medium bowler isn’t someone the batsmen wanted to see as the bowler. It was a sad moment for many cricket lovers when he announced his retirement from this league in 2017.
#3 Dhawal Kulkarni [MI]
Next up on the list is the Mumbai right-arm medium-fast bowler. With a total of 8 maiden overs to his name in this league, Dhawal is up third on the list. He is one of the players looking forward to having an excellent season to make a place in the international formats.
#4 Lasith Malinga [MI]
With again a total of 8 maiden overs, is this Srilankan veteran right-arm fast bowler. He is known for his consistent toe crushing yorker-length balls especially in the death overs is a no shocker on this list. With his fiery combination of experience and pace, he is a nightmare for many batsmen on the pitch.
#5 Sandeep Sharma [SRH]
Last on this list is the Punjabi right-arm medium pacer, Sandeep Sharma. He made his place in the hearts of several Indian cricket fans after his blistering performance in the U19 world cup of 2012, where he scrapped 4 wickets in the finals to seal the deal. He too has made his way up on the list with a total of 8 maiden overs.
