The most expensive over in Tests
It is Jasprit Bumrah’s first game as the skipper and hence, many expected him to pull off something incredible with the ball. While the possibility of that remains, the speedster has already toppled a record with his willow. In the 84th over of the Indian innings, Bumrah scored 29 runs off Stuart Broad, making it the most number of runs scored by a player in a single over. Broad also gave away six extras, thereby making this 35-run over the most expensive one in Test cricket. For a format that is decades old, to see a premium pacer breaking a top batting record is an astonishing feat.
While Bumrah hit the first ball towards the boundary, Broad then bowled five wides in the next one. In the next five balls, the Indian cricketer scored 6[no ball], 4, 4, 4, 6 and a single was taken on the last ball. Overall, it was also a massive over in the context of the game because India crossed the 400-mark.
Twitter reacts to the event
Stuart Broad became the player to have the most expensive overs in Tests and T20Is. Obviously, Twitter was not able to control by linking Bumrah and Yuvraj Singh, who had scored six sixes in the 2007 T20 World Cup against Broad.
