Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad opened the innings for the Chennai Super Kings. Both openers continued their fine form from previous matches and had a partnership of 110 runs for the first wicket. After his departure, Devon Conway joined hands with all-rounder Shivam Dube. The two left-handed batters had a partnership of 59 runs for the second wicket. Dube played a fine cameo of 32 runs from 19 balls. The southpaw whacked one four and two sixes in his entertaining innings.
Conway aggregated 87 runs off 49 deliveries before losing his wicket, but a fine finish from MS Dhoni made sure that the Chennai Super Kings passed the 200-run milestone. Dhoni scored 21 runs off just eight deliveries. His brief knock comprised a four and two maximums.
The other five runs scored by Dhoni were through running between the wickets. Fans were impressed with the way Dhoni ran between the wickets despite being one of the oldest players playing in the competition. He has set a new benchmark for fitness and running between the wickets in the league.
