The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is currently underway in India, with the 26th match of the tournament happening earlier today at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. New entrants Lucknow Super Giants defeated the Mumbai Indians in that game, courtesy of a century from their captain KL Rahul. Dewald Brevis played an impressive cameo of 31 runs in that match.

Ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, Brevis earned the nickname of ‘Baby AB’ from the fans because of his excellent performances for South Africa U-19 in the ICC U-19 World Cup 2022. Many fans thought that the Royal Challengers Bangalore would bid heavily for him at the mega auction.

However, the same did not happen as five-time champions Mumbai Indians ended up signing him. Brevis has been very impressive for MI in the last two matches. He smashed 28 runs off five balls against Rahul Chahar during the battle with Punjab Kings.

Earlier today, Brevis scored 31 runs off 13 balls against the Lucknow Super Giants, whacking six fours and a six. During his inning, one of the world’s best all-rounders Ben Stokes tweeted: “Brevis=Player.” However, soon after, Brevis lost his wicket to Avesh Khan.

The youngster handed a catch to Deepak Hooda. Stokes felt he jinxed it, and so he wrote: “Sorry Brevis.” on Twitter.
