Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals will clash in the second game of IPL 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on 27th March. The game will start at 3:30 pm on Sunday. For the first week or so, some key players will miss games in most teams. Hence, we could see an even battle in the initial encounters. Openers: Rohit Sharma (C) and Ishan Kishan (WK)
Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan are likely to be the openers for Mumbai Indians playing XI for their first game against Delhi Capitals. The duo did the same job for Team India a few months ago and they will do it again for their franchise team. Ishan did well in the back end of IPL 2021 after he was promoted up the order. Hence, he is likely to keep his place as an opener.
Middle-Order: Anmolpreet Singh, Tilak Varma and Tim David
Since Suryakumar Yadav is absent for the first game and Hardik Pandya is no more in the team, it will be a fresh middle-order for Mumbai Indians. While Anmolpreet Singh and Tilak Varma must take care of the bulk of the duties in the middle-overs, new overseas import Tim David will be expected to have a say at the death. In Tilak Varma and Tim David, Mumbai can also get a few overs of spin.
All-Rounders: Kieron Pollard, Daniel Sams and Sanjay Yadav
Kieron Pollard will be the only experienced name in the middle-order for the first game. Hence, the pressure will be immense on the West Indian cricketer. Bowlers: Mayank Markhande, Jasprit Bumrah and Tymal Mills
Mayank Markhande will lead the spin attack for Mumbai Indians. Having not played enough games in recent campaigns, Mayank is set to get a decent run in IPL 2022. Jasprit Bumrah and Tymal Mills will form a potent pace combination, especially at the death. The duo’s partnership could define the chances of Mumbai in this campaign.
