T20 is a format in which games can change within a matter of a few deliveries. While a bowler can influence a game with a few wickets in an over, a batter can do it by scoring a lot of runs in a span of six deliveries. Usually, the foreigner batters are known for scoring bulk in an over, but even a few Indians have managed the feat in recent years. In this article, we take a look at the list of the three Indians to score 25+ runs more than once in an over in IPL history.
1) Hardik Pandya (Gujarat Titans) – 3 Times
It is no surprise that Hardik Pandya is one of the Indians to score 25+ runs more than once in an over in IPL history. A top-class finisher, Hardik happens to be one of the best hitters in Indian cricket at the moment.
The Baroda all-rounder has actually developed his game such that he prospers in big-hitting. The first occasion when he did was this was against Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017 when he got 28 runs in an over. In IPL 2020 alone, Hardik Pandya had two overs in which he scored in excess of 25 runs. Incidentally, both these overs were in the same game against Rajasthan Royals.
2) Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians) – 2 Times
Rohit Sharma is the highest run-getter for Mumbai Indians so far in IPL. As well aware, Rohit is one of the cleanest hitters of the ball. Once he gets going, it is usually hard to restrict him.
Against Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium back in 2013, Rohit Sharma struck two fours and three sixes in an over to make 26 runs within a span of six balls. It was a top over and since then, Rohit has been extracting expensive overs from the opposition due to his batting. He achieved it in 2015 against Royal Challengers Bangalore, too.
3) Rishabh Pant (Delhi Capitals) – 2 Times
Rishabh Pant is also one of the Indians to score 25+ Runs more than once in an over in IPL history. He did it in 2017 against Kolkata Knight Riders and then in 2018 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. In both occasions, Pant scored 26 runs in the over.
Considering the form he is at the moment, it would not be a surprise if he does this a few more times in IPL 2022. Pant will continue to lead Delhi Capitals next season.
