On Friday, the new format for IPL 2022 was announced. The ten teams were divided into two virtual groups based on the number of titles won and the final games played. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are in different groups for IPL 2022. Yet, they clash against each other twice in the league phase. In this article, we take a look at how Twitter reacted as MI and CSK are set to clash twice despite being in different groups for IPL 2022.
MI and CSK are set to clash twice
Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are the first entrants to their respective groups courtesy of the grouping criteria. However, IPL has made one more rule in which teams will have to play against the franchise from the other group in the same row twice. Otherwise, teams will have to play teams from the other group only once. The home-and-away two-way fixture will be against all teams from the same group. Due to these new rules, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings will now clash twice in the league phase of IPL 2022.
While MI and CSK clash has been ensured twice, this time around, we will see Mumbai Indians and RCB taking on only once in the league phase. Some other key encounters involving Delhi Capitals and KKR will also happen once.
Twitter reacts to the marquee clash of IPL 2022
Meanwhile, despite all the complex grouping rules, Mumbai Indians and CSK will clash twice in IPL 2022 league phase. This is despite them falling into different groups. This clash belongs to a marquee category and hence, it seems that broadcasters might have had a say in the fixtures. Along with this, Twitter had plenty more to say about the clashing of Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni. Here is a look at a few of the reactions below:

This is some really good planning as expected. CSK and MI get to play twice inspite of being in different groups, then they again face in knockouts 😈
