The England cricket team has dominated the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 so far. In their first match, the England cricket team defeated the defending champions West Indies, and they continued their winning momentum by beating Bangladesh and Australia in the next two matches. The English side is currently playing its fourth match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 against Sri Lanka.
If England manages to win this match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, they will become the first team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 to officially qualify for the semifinals. Many fans might have noticed one different thing in the ongoing match between England and Sri Lanka, and that is the jersey that the England cricket team is wearing.
England wore a blue color dominant jersey in the previous matches
Playing under the captaincy of Eoin Morgan wore a blue color dominant jersey in the previous three matches of the ICC T20 World Cup. However, in the ongoing match, the English side is donning a red color dominant jersey. The reason behind this is ICC has asked teams to wear different shades of jersey so that they are recognizable. Sri Lanka also have the blue shade. Hence, England opted for red.
“However, the ICC ruled the kit too closely resembled that which would be worn by some other nations, particularly the Associate nations who don’t have the resources to produce two kits, and a clash strip had to be produced, leading CA to repurpose the kit worn at the 2019 ODI World Cup in England,” Cricket Australia had explained reason behind two different kits in a statement.
Jos Buttler has continued his excellent form in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 match against Sri Lanka
Jos Buttler looked in fantastic touch during the previous ICC T20 World Cup 2021 match between England and Australia. He scored 71 runs off 32 deliveries and helped the England cricket team win comfortably.
Today, the Sri Lankan bowlers started well, with Wanindu Hasaranga picked up two early wickets. However, Jos Buttler held one end and completed his fifty. The English team is 83/3 after 14 overs. It will be interesting to see how much they score in the 1st innings.
