Rishabh Pant has made a name for himself with his big-hitting abilities. The wicket-keeper batter has played some memorable knocks for the Indian cricket team in the Test format, and he played a fantastic innings against the Pakistan cricket team in the opening match of India in the Super 12 round of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
The Men in Blue received an invitation to bat first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium after Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss. The decision proved to be a good one for the Men in Green because left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi sent both Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul back to the dressing room before they could score big. Sharma lost his wicket on the first ball he faced, while Rahul returned after scoring three runs.
Virat Kohli stabilized the innings after early wickets
Even Mumbai Indians star Suryakumar Yadav lost his wicket early, and it seemed like the Indian cricket team may struggle to post a big total. However, captain Virat Kohli stabilized the innings by scoring runs regularly. He did not play more dot balls and focused on strike rotation.
Wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant supported him brilliantly with a 30-ball 39. Playing his first-ever ICC T20 World Cup match, Pant looked in excellent touch as he continued his good run from the warm-up matches of the tournament.
