How RCB Can Beat CSK In Net Run Rate And Get Qualified To Top 2

Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings are currently placed No.3 and No.2 on the points table. However, RCB still has one game left in the league stage and hence, will target a position in the Top 2. In this article, we take a look as to how RCB can beat CSK in Net run rate and qualify to the Top 2 in the points’ table of IPL 2021.

Here is how RCB can beat CSK in Net Run Rate

After losing the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday, RCB has lost a good chance of getting a Top 2 position. This is because, on Thursday, CSK lost by six wickets with seven overs to spare at the hands of Punjab Kings.

Nevertheless, RCB still has one game left and would attempt to get a Top 2 spot. However, with CSK’s NRR at +0.455 and RCB’s at -0.159, the Bengaluru outfit will have a tough scenario to overtake CSK. While RCB cannot overtake CSK’s NRR by chasing a target, they will have to win by a margin of 163 runs to cross +0.455 in the NRR column.

What are the chances of it happening?

Although cricket is a funny game and anything could happen, RCB’s scenario looks unrealistic. There is a very slim chance of RCB getting to the Top 2 in IPL 2021. In fact, even before the game starts, at the toss too, RCB’s chances could become nil if they get to field first.

In IPL history, the biggest margin of victory is by 146 runs. This was executed by Mumbai Indians against Delhi Capitals in 2017. Although RCB’s opponents will be Delhi in this game, the No.1 placed team is strong in all departments and even defeating them would be a hard task. Hence, Chennai Super Kings can assure itself of a place in the Top 2. This way, they will play Qualifier 1 and hence, will have an additional crack at the finals.
