Yann Sommer’s brilliant save against Kylian Mbappé’s penalty helped Switzerland secure a 4-5 win in the penalty shoot-out and knocked France out of the competition.
Spain was too involved in an overall dramatic encounter. They matched up against Croatia in the knockout final. Pedri’s own goal had given Croatia a lucky lead. However, Spain came back strong with three goals and made it 3-1. Croatia didn’t seem to give up the match as goals in the 85th minute followed by an equaliser in 90+2 minute caused Nightmares for Spain’s future in the competition.
In extra time, Álvaro Morata and Mikel Oyarzabal made it seem too easy as they scored a goal each helping Spain qualify for the Quarter Finals.
