“I said that it would be difficult, but not impossible” – Mohammad Asif clarifies his old remark on Virat Kohli

India’s run-scoring machine Virat Kohli went through struggles as a cricketer in his journey. For close to three years, he didn’t score a century as far as international cricket is concerned.

The right-handed batter might have played a few impactful knocks but he missed out on making his presence count on the field. Kohli came under fire for his inability to convert his starts into productive scores.

Back in 2021, former Pakistani paceman Mohammad Asif had predicted that once Virat Kohli hit the downfall, he can’t make a comeback. Calling Kohli a bottom-hand player, Asif further added that Kohli was doing well because of his fitness.

While speaking on CoverDriveCricket’s YouTube channel, Mohammad Asif said the moment Kohli will face a setback, Kohli won’t make a comeback.

Mohammad Asif clarifies his old remark on Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli did struggle to make a comeback in the period of close to three years. However, he rose to the occasion in the Asia Cup 2022 tournament where he finished the competition as India’s leading run-scorer.

Virat Kohli mustered 276 runs in five games where he scored his maiden T20I century. Besides that, he scored two fifties to his credit. He carried his rich vein of form into the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

Virat Kohli finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer as he mustered 296 runs including four half-centuries. Former Indian captain Virat Kohli silenced the critics by making a stellar comeback.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Asif was reminded of his old remark about Virat Kohli during his appearance on Salman Butt’s official YouTube channel. The former cricketer added that he actually felt it would be quite tough for Virat Kohli to make a comeback.

At the same time, he said it wouldn’t be that impossible. Furthermore, Asif added that Virat Kohli is his favourite player and also said that he totally enjoys his batting.
