The IPL is the world’s grandest T20 league, and it is the dream of every cricketer to play in the tournament once. Not all have been successful in fulfilling their desires, but quite a few players have not only made it to the IPL but also achieved enormous success in the league. More than 20 players have aggregated 3,000 or more runs in IPL.
However, six of them are yet to put their hands on the IPL trophy. Here’s a list of six such players:
1. Virat Kohli – Most runs in IPL
It is surprising to note that the highest run-getter in the IPL is yet to win an IPL trophy. Virat Kohli has scored 6,411 runs in IPL, but his team RCB is yet to end their title drought.
2. AB de Villiers – Most runs by a South African in IPL
AB de Villiers was Virat Kohli’s teammate for a decade. Both batters enjoyed much success together. AB scored 5,162 runs in his IPL career for DD and RCB, but could not win a title.
3. Chris Gayle – Most runs by a West Indian in IPL
Universe Boss Chris Gayle aggregated 4,965 runs while playing for RCB, PBKS, and KKR, but he was never a part of the champions squad.
4. KL Rahul
Former Orange Cap winner KL Rahul has scored 3,641 runs in 102 matches for RCB, SRH, PBKS, and LSG. However, his consistent performances have not helped his team win the title.
5. Ajinkya Rahane
One of the most successful openers in the league, Ajinkya Rahane has aggregated 4,021 runs in 156 matches. Rahane has been with MI, DC, KKR, RR, and RPS, but he never won an IPL title.
6. Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson had a chance to win his first IPL trophy as captain last Sunday, but his team Rajasthan Royals lost to Gujarat Titans in the final. He has scored 3,296 runs for RR and DD.
