6 Players Who Came As A Replacement In IPL 2022

IPL is a marathon league and quite frequently it sees players getting injured and dropping off the charts. It is not easy to continue performing at the same level day in and day out and it gets very challenging for an individual to carry on with the same rhythm.

However, it is the individual decision of a team to figure out the proper replacements. So far with the kind of electric ambiance that has taken over the ongoing IPL, a few players have already found themselves out of the contest. At times injuries have played spoilsport while for others bubble fatigue has marred their campaign.

In this story, let us quickly take a look at the six cricketers who came on as replacements for others in the ongoing edition of the tournament.

#1 Rahmanullah Gurbaz

Jason Roy pulled out of the tournament even before it started and quoted bubble fatigue for the same. The Titans wanted a like-for-like replacement. Even though the stature of Jason Roy in T20 cricket is pretty much on the higher side, the Titans were happy to savour the services of the Afghan opening batter, Gurbaz.

#2 Aaron Finch

The Australian opener came in for the English opener after Hales deemed himself not ready to play the tournament. Finch has already shown the kind of carnage that he usually brings to the field with his blitzkrieg. It was his special knock that saw KKR taking the fight right to the Royals in the face of a ginormous total.

#3 Harshit Rana

An unheralded Rana arrived in the place of Rasik Salam whose span in the Knights’ camp was cut short by an injury. Salam returned to cricket after two years of ban for an age fraud but his joys were short-lived after copping a muscle injury. Rana is also a fast bowler and has created a handful of ripples at the domestic level.

#4 Andrew Tye

Mark Wood pulled out of the tournament even before the tournament kickstarted. Tye is a fine replacement given almost similar numbers on the speed-gun. The Australian fast bowler is known for his decent line and length and can rack up a handful of menacing toe-crushers that can be instrumental in shaping the fortunes of the death overs.

#5 Rajat Patidar

A young Luvnith Sisodia could have very well been a part of his first IPL but then his stint was reduced to a short span, especially after copping a serious injury that ruled him out. The Challengers picked up Patidar as a replacement as he has already proven his worth over the recent years. He is someone reliable and can anchor the middle-order properly.

#6 Matheesha Pathirana

Chennai’s bowling has already been out of shape and to act as a telling blow they were deprived of Adam Milne after the latter got hammered up with an injury. However, they have got a decent replacement in the shape of Pathirana who can rack up significant speeds and storm in with a handful of deadly yorkers.
