5 WWE Superstars who have wrestled in most matches at SummerSlam

The biggest party of summer, WWE SummerSlam is almost upon us. The pay-per-view is set to air live from the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, August 21. The main event is Roman Reigns vs. John Cena for the Universal Championship. The match card also features some other big matches. Bianca Belair will defend her SmackDown Women’s Title against Sasha Banks.

Meanwhile, Bobby Lashley will put his WWE Championship on the line against WWE Hall of Famer Bobby Lashley. Edge will face Seth Rollins in a grudge match. Also, the RAW Women’s Championship will be defended in a triple threat match. Nikki A.S.H. will defend against Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley. Speaking of SummerSlam, in this article today, we will look at the five Superstars with the most matches at SummerSlam.

5. Triple H – 13 matches at WWE SummerSlam

Father of NXT, Triple H has wrestled 13 matches at WWE SummerSlam. Interestingly, he has not wrestled at this PPV since 2012. In his last SummerSlam match, Triple H lost to Brock Lesnar. Eight years have passed since then. Still, Triple H is present in the Top 5.

In 2007, Triple H fought Booker T at this PPV. Nine years before that, he had an iconic match. His opponent was The Rock. It was a ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship. The two Superstars thrilled the fans at Madison Square Garden with their phenomenal match.

4. Edge – 13 matches

Another Superstar with 13 matches at SummerSlam is Edge. Even Edge has not wrestled at SummerSlam for years. He wrestled his last SummerSlam match in 2010. It was a 14-man tag team elimination match. Edge won that match, tagging with Bret Hart, Chris Jericho, Daniel Bryan, John Cena, John Morrison and R-Truth.

Edge has an envious record at this show. He is above Triple H because of the number of wins. Triple H has eight victories at this PPV. Meanwhile, Edge has 11 wins. He will try to record his 12th win against Seth Rollins at the next SummerSlam.

3. John Cena – 14 matches

John Cena will headline SummerSlam 2021. However, he does not have a great record at this PPV. Many believe that Cena will lose this year as well. Cena has won five matches only at SummerSlam. His last win came against Baron Corbin in 2017. Recently, both Superstars had an interaction on SmackDown.

Cena faced Randy Orton in a WWE Championship match in 2007. He fought AJ Styles in an epic encounter in 2016. Prior to that, he faced Seth Rollins at the PPV. Cena has also faced Booker T at this PPV. His match against Roman Reigns will be his 15th at SummerSlam.

2. Randy Orton – 15 matches

Randy Orton has surprisingly been away from WWE for quite some time. He was involved in a storyline with Riddle. It seemed he would challenge for the RAW Tag Team Championships at SummerSlam. The seeds seem to be sown for that match. However, Randy is yet to return.

If Randy does return, it will be his 16th SummerSlam match. He fought Drew McIntyre at this PPV last year. Before that, he challenged Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship. Orton has won seven and lost seven matches at SummerSlam. One of his matches did not produce a winner.

1. The Undertaker – 16 matches at WWE SummerSlam

Ahead of SummerSlam 2021, The Undertaker is the only Superstar with more than 15 matches at the PPV. The Deadman retired from WWE in 2020. He is no longer active inside the ring. Hence, his record could be broken soon. The Undertaker was much dominant at SummerSlam.

He wrestled in a total of 16 matches at the PPV. The Undertaker won ten out of those matches. He lost five times. One ended in a no result. It is highly unlikely that we will ever witness The Undertaker performing at the Biggest Party of Summer.
