The rumors that CM Punk returns to WWE soon after AEW exit have been rife in the last few days. Tony Khan made the big announcement of firing Punk from the company on Collision last Saturday. Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, had a backstage real-life fight with Jack Perry.
Khan surprisingly claimed that for the first time, he felt his life was in danger during a wrestling show. Hence, he had no other option but to release Punk. Fans should note that if both parties agree, the chances that CM Punk returns to WWE exist. Here are five possible storyline ideas for his return.
1. CM Punk returns to WWE and calls out Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns has a habit of being confronted by his next surprise opponents at the end of premium live events. WWE has one Saudi Arabian show and Survivor Series in Chicago later this year. The best way for Punk’s return would be to have him confront Roman.
2. CM Punk returns to WWE to destroy Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins minced no words when he was asked about a probable CM Punk return to WWE during a 2K23 game event. Rollins even labeled Punk as ‘cancer’. The heat already exists, and WWE can cash in on the same.
3. CM Punk wins WWE Royal Rumble 2024

CM Punk always had the dream to main event WrestleMania, but he never got the closing match on the Showcase of Immortals. Punk could be given a chance to headline the Show of Shows by returning and winning the Royal Rumble next year.
4. CM Punk goes after Intercontinental Champion Gunther
Gunther has been the Intercontinental Champion for more than 400 days. A lot of Superstars have failed to defeat him. Perhaps, WWE can bring back CM Punk and allow him to have a wrestling classic with Gunther.
5. CM Punk vs John Cena – 1 final time?
John Cena is currently a regular member of the SmackDown roster for eight weeks. If Punk agrees for a short-term return, he can end his career on his terms by having one last match against Cena, a close friend and a fierce rival of him.
