When we talk about the IPL, the first two teams which come to the mind are CSK and MI because they are the most successful franchises. Both of them are arch-rivals when it comes to the IPL. When you ask most of the players they would say that they want to play for either CSK or MI in the IPL. Not everyone gets an opportunity to play for either of the teams but there are some players who have played for both of these teams. So, let’s have a look at 5 such players who have played for both CSK and MI.
5. Michael Hussey
Michael Hussey who is also known as Mr. Cricket is one of the most underrated cricketers in the IPL. He started off his IPL career with the CSK team where he was phenomenal. In 50 matches for CSK, he scored 1768 runs at an average of 42.10. He even won the Orange Cap when he was the CSK. In 2014, he was picked up by Mumbai Indians where he played 9 matches and that turned out to be his last IPL year as well.
4. Dwyane Smith
Dwayne Smith has played 4 teams out of which two are CSK and MI. Initially, he was with Mumbai Indians where he batted in the middle-order and won them a couple of games. Later on, he was picked up by CSK and asked to open the batting. Stephen Fleming, the coach of CSK was asked the reason to pick Dwayne Smith and he said that he scores heavily against them so they just picked him in their team. Smith had a fairly successful IPL career for both the teams.
3. Ambati Rayudu
Ambati Rayudu started his IPL career under Mumbai Indians. He has played most of his matches for MI. In 114 matches, he scored more than 2000 runs and batted at almost all positions. Most of the time he was used as a floater in the MI team. He got picked by CSK in the 2018 Auction and MS Dhoni asked him to open the batting where he was a revelation. He scored more than 500 runs in a single season for the first time. In this year’s IPL, Rayudu will once again be ready in Yellow clothes to team up against MI.
2. Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan Singh’s IPL career is pretty similar to Rayudu. Singh was one of the two players to play all the 10 seasons for one team. He was the go-to spinner in the Mumbai Indians team for the first 10 seasons. The 40-year-old off-spinner picked up 127 wickets for MI in 136 matches. In the 2018 Mega Auction, CSK picked him for his base price, and in the last 2 seasons, he has performed well for CSK as well. This might be the last season of the veteran as he gears up to play in UAE where the conditions might suit him.
1. Dwyane Bravo
Dwayne Bravo has been one of the most celebrated cricketers in the IPL and he has been part of the two most celebrated franchises as well. Bravo started his IPL career with Mumbai Indians but most of his fans associate him with CSK because most of his achievements have come in Yellow Jersey. He has played 89 matches for CSK and picked up more than 100 wickets. He has been a fantastic death bowler and has won the Purple Cap twice. All his fans will be eager to see Bravo back in action with the yellow jersey.
