Fate could change in a matter of a few days in the IPL. One day, you could be unsold and another day, a big contract could be on your table. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of five players unsold in IPL 2022 Mega Auctions but retained before IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
1) Matheesha Pathirana
Of course, he was a prodigy back then. Not many, barring those who followed U19 cricket, knew much about the Sri Lankan cricketer. However, at the moment, he is one of the best pacers in the league and deserves retention by CSK.
2) Rajat Patidar
Rajat Patidar is one of the players unsold in IPL 2022 Mega Auctions but retained before IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. He played for RCB in the previous editions but did not get a bid in the IPL 2022 Auctions. Later, he joined as a replacement at RCB and ever since then, there has been no looking back for him.
3) Harshit Rana
Harshit Rana is also one of the players unsold in IPL 2022 Mega Auctions but retained before IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. In fact, he was a net bowler at Gujarat Titans. Now, he is one of the best young pacers in India and has been retained by KKR.
4) Abishek Porel
It was Rishabh Pant’s absence that gave Porel a big chance. The West Bengal cricketer made good use of his chances. Now that Rishabh Pant has not been retained, there is a chance that he could be the wicketkeeper for the franchise for a long time.
5) Mayank Yadav
It was only in the last few years that Mayank Yadav gained prominence in the domestic circle. He got a chance to make his IPL debut and it took only two games for him to seal a retention before a Mega Auction.
