Mumbai Indians had their worst season of all time in IPL 2022. Despite being the most successful team in the tournament’s history, the Mumbai-based franchise finished last on the points table with four wins from 14 matches. MI was already looking forward to IPL 2023 before their season ended.
Because of their massive failure in IPL 2022, MI will have to make some hard decisions ahead of the IPL 2023 Auction. In this listicle now, we will look at the five players Mumbai Indians may let go.
1. MI might release Jaydev Unadkat before IPL 2023
Jaydev Unadkat was one of the most experienced players present in the Mumbai Indians squad for IPL 2022. However, the left-arm pacer managed six wickets in five matches at an economy rate of 9.50. He might be released because of his economy rate.
2. Tymal Mills
Another left-arm pacer who might be released is Tymal Mills. The England star conceded 190 runs in his 17 overs, with his economy rate being more than 11 runs per over. Also, he is an injury-prone player.
3. MI may take the big decision of releasing Kieron Pollard ahead of IPL 2023
Kieron Pollard scored only 144 runs in 11 innings for Mumbai Indians at a strike rate of less than 110. Since he was retained for 6 crores, Mumbai may release him and then buy him back at a cheaper price.
4. Tristan Stubbs
Tristan Stubbs was surprisingly signed by Mumbai Indians as a replacement for Mumbai Indians. However, it seemed like the youngster is still not ready for the IPL as he scored only two runs in his first two matches. Since he was dropped from the playing XI for the last match, MI may let go of Tristan.
5. MI may release Fabian Allen ahead of IPL 2023
Fabian Allen played only 1 match for Mumbai, where he returned with figures of 1/46. Mumbai may look to increase their auction purse and open up some of their overseas spots by releasing Allen.
