4 youngsters whom CSK must include in the playing XI for the remaining games of IPL 2022

Chennai Super Kings lost by five wickets to Mumbai Indians on Thursday. With this, the defending champions have been knocked out of the competition. CSK will want some new players to take up the slot in the playing XI next season. Hence, the next two games offer them a good chance to test the cricketers on the roster. After being knocked out of IPL 2022, even Mumbai Indians have been doing the same. They handed the debut cap to Tristan Stubbs by dropping Kieron Pollard. Similarly, CSK should also take a few bold calls that will help them in the long run. On that note, in this article, we take a look at four youngsters whom CSK must include in the playing XI for the remaining games of IPL 2022.

1) N Jagadeesan

The Tamil Nadu man has been extremely unlucky with regards to his chances. Despite doing well in domestic cricket, he is not getting enough games in IPL. That said, with the likes of Ambati Rayudu and Robin Uthappa becoming inconsistent, CSK can make use of Jagadeesan‘s services.

Apart from his skills with the bat, Jagadeesan is also a good wicket-keeper. Keeping MS Dhoni‘s retirement in mind, CSK must try a player who can take the gloves in the future. Since the opening positions are filled, Jagadeesan will have to do well in the middle order. For that, he will need a lot of game time to come good.

2) Matheesha Pathirana

Pathirana is one of the youngsters whom CSK must include in the playing XI for the remaining games of IPL 2022. The Sri Lankan cricketer was drafted in as a replacement for the injured Adam Milne. He has played in the U19 World Cup and is known for his pace.

Dubbed as the next “Malinga”, Pathirana also has a slinging action like the legend from his nation. CSK has tried out a few young Indian pacers and they might as well give a chance to Pathirana. Dwayne Bravo is anyways at the end of his career and therefore, in the remaining two games at least, with nothing to lose, CSK has the best chance to introduce the youngster to IPL.

3) Rajvardhan Hangargekar

When Deepak Chahar was reported as unavailable, many felt that Rajvardhan will straightaway get selected in the XI. However, 12 games into the competition, that has still not happened. The likes of Mukesh Choudhary and Simarjeet Singh have cemented their spots in the XI. They have been doing a good job and hence, they deserve the spot.

Nevertheless, Rajvardhan is a special talent, and exposing him now to IPL might be a good idea. With nothing to lose, he will be under less pressure. Hence, CSK can see the potential of the cricketer on the field in a live game and judge it.

4) Subhranshu Senapati

Subhranshu Senapati is also one of the youngsters whom CSK must include in the playing XI for the remaining games of IPL 2022. Hailing from Odisha, the cricketer was scouted by CSK and was selected at the auctions.

CSK also has a competent scouting team and hence, there has to be something special in the cricketer. He enjoys decent stats in domestic cricket but it is heard that it is his big-hitting abilities that made CSK go for him. In that case, the franchise should try using the cricketer. Then, they can make a decision about retaining him or not.
