WWE has built its reputation as the global giant in the world of sports and entertainment through its four-decade-long tenure. Throughout its rich history, the promotion has produced some of the most enthralling and captivating in-ring bouts between world-class and elite-level WWE superstars showing their in-ring acumen and prowess inside the the squared circle for a long time.
But amidst the list of successful and power-packed matches, WWE also has a handful of less-than-below-expectation matches etched in their history books, especially after the year 2018. Here is a look at those 4 worst WWE bouts that took place:
1. Seth Rollins vs Bray Wyatt
The highly anticipated match between then-WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins and The Fiend Bray Wyatt inside Hell in a Cell at the name-sake event in 2019 was a huge shocker coming out of it. The match that was expected to be a blockbuster turned out to be one of the worst produced matches for its non-sensical production, The Fiend displaying no signs of damage and Rollins’ failing moveset. However, the two stars would redeem themselves by following it up with a stellar match at the WWE Crown Jewel PLE in Saudi Arabia.
2. The Undertaker vs Goldberg
The WWE Universe had huge expectations from the first-ever bout announced between legends, The Undertaker and Goldberg for WWE SuperShowdown in 2019. However, Goldberg walking into the match with a concussion, multiple bitch moves by both competitors, and most memorably dropping Undertaker on his neck that almost injured him made it one of the worst disasters that the WWE ever showcased with The Deadman visibly frustrated with his performance at the end of the match.
3. Eva Marie vs Alexa Bliss
After Eva Marie returned to WWE in 2021, she began a feud with the mysterious Alexa Bliss and her doll ‘Lily.’ This led to a one-on-one encounter between them at WWE SummerSlam 2021. A match that fans thought would be enthralling and undelivered, citing fewer good in-ring moves and of course Eva Marie’s inability to prove her worth as a performer making it the worst match for WWE to add to the same list.
4. Jey vs Jimmy Uso
Ever since Jimmy Uso betrayed Jey Uso at WWE SummerSlam 2023, fans believed that a one-on-one match between The Usos was inevitable. When the match did happen at WrestleMania 40, it was a less-than-below showdown and came as a shocker citing the in-ring prowess of both sons of WWE Hall of Famers.
The showdown that was supposed to carve out a place in history was heavily panned by the critics for its underdelivery and displeasure by the fans who witnessed it in Philadelphia.
