Major League Cricket will have its first season in July this year. The draft for the domestic cricketers will happen on March 19th (March 20th in India). Four IPL team owners have also invested in this league. Therefore, there would be attention on the league from India, too. In fact, it won’t be a surprise if a few IPL team owners look at players who have been a part of IPL in the past. On that note, here, we take a look at four USA-based IPL winners whom IPL team owners can target in MLC 2023 domestic draft.
1) Siddharth Trivedi (Rajasthan Royals – IPL 2008)
It has been 10 years since he has played in the IPL but Siddharth Trivedi is still the highest wicket-taker for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. He could have had a longer career if not for the controversies he got into.
In the IPL, Trivedi had a knack for collecting wickets regularly. He moved the ball well and troubled the best of batters. In 2008, he won the trophy with Rajasthan Royals. Recently, the pacer moved his base to the USA. Hence, he could get signed up by one of the franchises in MLC.
2) Unmukt Chand (Mumbai Indians – IPL 2015)
Unmukt Chand is one of the USA-based IPL winners whom IPL team owners can target in the MLC 2023 domestic draft. The 2012 U19 World Cup-winning skipper is one of the high-profile Indians who left BCCI to pursue a career in the United States of America.
He is already one of the big names waiting for eligibility to play for the USA Cricket Team. Unmukt won the IPL in 2015 with Mumbai Indians. He did not have a great outing personally but it was a learning curve for him. Since MI is involved in MLC, it would not be a surprise if they make a move for the former Indian cricketer.
3) Corey Anderson (Mumbai Indians – IPL 2015)
Across the globe, probably the biggest name to retire from a top nation to play for the US is Corey Anderson. Yes, he was struggling to cement his spot in the Kiwi setup but he had the skills and age to make a return. Hence, it was surprising to see him take this decision.
In 2015, Corey Anderson won the IPL with Mumbai Indians. Overall, he had an average stint with them but he produced some memorable performances. He will surely be one of the captaincy candidates in MLC. Therefore, he will be in big demand.
4) Bipul Sharma (Sunrisers Hyderabad – IPL 2016)
Bipul Sharma is also one of the USA-based IPL winners whom IPL team owners can target in the MLC 2023 domestic draft. The bowling all-rounder is one of the recent Indians who have moved to the USA.
Bipul had a vital role to play in SRH’s title-winning campaign in 2016. While he majorly operated as a spinner, Bipul also hit a few big shots in the lower order. He has plenty of experience in the T20 format and despite him close to being 40 years old, franchises would still be open to signing the IPL winner. Therefore, he is on this list.
