4 Surprises Which Could Happen On This Week’s WWE SmackDown Episode (September 9, 2022)

The Landscape of WWE SmackDown has shifted its course drastically over the past week with the conclusion of WWE’s premium event in the United Kingdom, WWE Clash at the Castle. The U.K stadium show saw some exciting moments, high-caliber matches, and a shocking appearance that had high implications for the outcome of the main event match between Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

The wheels were in full motion to continue the sight of the changed WWE territory on the following episode of Monday Night RAW with the resurgence of The Monster Among Men Braun Strowman back to the WWE, Dominik Mysterio pledging his allegiance to The Judgment Day, and Dexter Lumis’s continuity of mind games to torment The Miz during his high stakes Steel Cage match with Bobby Lashley for the WWE United States Championship.

With Triple H proving to be the catalyst of change ever since he took over the reins as Head of Creative (and now Chief Content Officer), here are 5 possible surprises we can witness at the first Smackdown post-WWE Clash at the Castle:

1. Braun Strowman Targets The Bloodline on WWE SmackDown

The Monster Braun Strowman wasted no time in decimating four tag teams at the sight of his WWE return, reminding the WWE Universe of his destructive ways displayed in the past. He announced that he would give clarity on his motives this week on Smackdown.

Strowman injected himself during the fatal 4-way match to determine the No1 contenders for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles currently held by the Usos.

He could reveal his motives for challenging for the tag titles this week with a surprise partner like Drew McIntyre who is also revenge-minded after one of the Bloodline members, Solo Sikoa cost him the Undisputed Title at WWE Clash at the Castle. Another scenario could see Braun directly targeting The Head of the Table Roman Reigns, considering their esteemed past and rivalry and declaring his intentions to capture the Undisputed WWE Universal championship.

2. The Queen returns on WWE SmackDown!

The Queen of the Women’s division, 14-time Champion Charlotte Flair could have a styling profilin wheelin dealing return to the WWE this coming week on Smackdown. The genetically superior Superstar was last seen at Wrestlemania Backlash suffering a crushing defeat at the hands of Ronda Rousey and losing her Smackdown Women’s Title in the process.

The Queen can pick up right where she left off, announcing her motives to become the Women’s Champion for a 15th time challenging the champion to a match at the next WWE pay-per-view.

 3. Ronda vs Liv vs Shayna?

Liv Morgan could be in store to face the biggest challenge of her career, with WWE official Adam Pearce announcing a triple threat extreme rules match against two of the most dangerous combat athletes and MMA cohorts, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler, both women Morgan defeated over the last two months to retain her title.

4. The next challenger for the Undisputed title

Roman Reigns could get a glimpse of what the future holds for him and potentially get an idea of his next challenger for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. This week’s Smackdown can see the former challenger Drew McIntyre demanding another shot after being screwed out of the title in the United Kingdom, leading to the menacing Karrion Kross to emerge and stake his claim to a championship opportunity.

A highly intense confrontation between the two superstars could lead to an announcement of a #1 contender’s match between Drew and Kross at WWE Extreme Rules next month with the winner facing Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title.
