4 Popular Indian Players Who Have Lesser Salary Than Ishan Kishan In IPL 2022

Ishan Kishan made history in IPL 2022 Auction by becoming the biggest signing by the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. The Mumbai Indians had never spent more than INR 10 crore to sign any player at the auctions. They now have spent INR 15.25 crore to re-sign Kishan after releasing him ahead of the mega auction.

Talking about his records in the IPL, Kishan has played 56 innings, scoring 1,452 runs at a strike rate of 136.34. He has smashed nine fifties. Most importantly, he is a wicket-keeper batter and a future captaincy candidate also. Because he has at least 10-12 years of cricket in him, the franchises were ready to shell out big for him.

Here is a list of the four popular Indian players who have a lesser salary than Ishan Kishan’s 15.25 crore pay in IPL 2022.

1. MS Dhoni – INR 12 crore

MS Dhoni has achieved a lot of success as a captain in the Indian Premier League. He has been the captain of the Chennai Super Kings team since the inaugural IPL season. Dhoni has retired from all formats of international cricket now, but he led CSK to the championship in 2021. While CSK would have preferred retaining Dhoni number 1, the captain accepted to be the second retention with INR 12 crore fee.

2. Former teammate of Ishan Kishan: Hardik Pandya – INR 15 crore

Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya has received a contract worth INR 15 crore from the Ahmedabad-based franchise. The all-rounder once played together with Ishan Kishan for the Mumbai Indians, but both will be opponents in IPL 2022 now.

3. Virat Kohli – INR 15 crore

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli accepted a pay cut of INR 2 crore ahead of the mega auction. Kohli earned INR 17 crore in IPL 2021, but ahead of the mega auction, RCB announced they will pay him INR 15 crore.

4. Current MI teammate of Ishan Kishan: Jasprit Bumrah – INR 12 crore

Jasprit Bumrah was retained ahead of Ishan Kishan by the Mumbai Indians for INR 12 crore. Since MI have paid INR 15.25 crore to sign Kishan, both Bumrah and Kishan will be seen together playing for MI once again in IPL 2022.
