4 players who will be wearing the No.7 jersey in the 2023 ODI World Cup

The No.7 jersey is a popular one in the game of cricket, due to MS Dhoni. While for Team India, it is unlikely that any other cricketer will wear this jersey again, for the other nations, of course, we see many donning the No.7 on their backs. On that note, here, we take a look at four players who will be wearing the No.7 jersey in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

1) Mohammad Nabi

The former Afghanistan skipper is a part of this list. The all-rounder will probably be playing in his final ICC event. Hence, it is important that it turns out to be a memorable event for him.

Nabi has been a servant for Afghanistan cricket for a while now. Not just on the field, Nabi has done various activities outside the field that have helped Afghanistan cricket. Coming to his credentials as a cricketer, his role will be crucial in the World Cup. He will be the off-spinner and also the finisher in the batting department. With his experience, he will be expected to win a couple of matches, at least, for his side.

2) Dasun Shanaka

Dasun Shanaka is one of the players who will be wearing the No.7 jersey in the 2023 ODI World Cup. The Sri Lankan skipper is an inspirational figure in Sri Lanka. The team was in turmoil and despite not having much experience himself, he led the team very well. While he kept the team together, he also helped the side win a few trophies, importantly the Asia Cup in 2022.

That said, his personal form has not been great in recent months. There were even reports that he would step down as a skipper. However, that did not happen. Nevertheless, Dasun Shanaka has done well in India before. That should give him the confidence to apply himself with the bat and finish a few games well with the bat. Of course, he can also do his bit when needed with the willow.

3) Shadab Khan

There were some shocking reports that suggested Shadab Khan will be dropped from the World Cup squad. Being the vice-captain, it would have been disappointing for him. Of course, that did not happen. Shadab is Babar Azam‘s deputy in the World Cup.

He will lead the spin attack for his side in the tournament. Shadab must pick wickets in the middle-overs to stay relevant. With the bat, he could operate at No.6 or No.7 depending on the situation. He could even be promoted up the order if some early wickets fall for the team.

4) Vikramjit Singh

Vikramjit Singh is also one of the players who will be wearing the No.7 jersey in the 2023 ODI World Cup. One of the brightest young talents in the game right now is Vikramjit.

Having Indian roots, Vikram plays as a top-order batter for the Netherlands. Ever since he made his debut, he has been in good touch. The Dutch will be looking forward to one or two special knocks by the teenager at the ODI World Cup.
