4 Players Who Played For MI Last Season And Are Doing Well For Other Teams In IPL 2022

The Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in the Indian Premier League history, but IPL 2022 has not been their season. The Mumbai-based franchise have lost eight matches on a trot and are in the tenth position on the points table. MI had to release most of their star players ahead of the mega auction because of the retention rules.

They tried to buy their released players but could not sign all of them. Some have joined other franchises while the likes of Dhawal Kulkarni and Piyush Chawla have joined the Star Sports Hindi commentary panel.

In this listicle now, we will look at the four players who played for MI in 2021 and are doing well for other teams in 2022.

1. Quinton de Kock – Released by MI, match-winner for LSG

South African wicket-keeper batter Quinton de Kock has been a top performer for the debutant Lucknow Super Giants franchise in IPL 2022. The left-handed batter has scored 225 runs in eight matches, slamming two fifties for his new franchise.

2. Marco Jansen – Game-changer for SRH in 2022

Mumbai Indians were the first franchise to sign Marco Jansen. They signed him for just 20 lakh last year, but he was released due to mega auction rules. Jansen joined SRH and has become a game-changer for them with six wickets in five matches at an economy rate of 7.15.

3. Rahul Chahar – Released by MI, match-winner for PBKS

Rahul Chahar joined the Punjab Kings at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The right-arm leg-spinner did bowl an expensive first over to Dewald Brevis in the match against Mumbai Indians, but overall, he has taken 10 wickets in eight matches for PBKS. He has also scored 46 runs for the team.

It goes without saying that the mega auction rules had a massive impact on Mumbai Indians as they lost a majority of their star players.

4. Hardik Pandya

As per reports, Hardik Pandya wanted a captaincy role in the Mumbai Indians team. However, he did not receive it and was subsequently released by MI. GT roped him in before the auction and handed him the team’s reins. Hardik has done a sensational job for GT and ensured that the team is just a step away from qualifying for the playoffs.
