4 players CSK might sign during IPL mid-season transfer

As the IPL 2020 season is approaching the half-way mark, talks have begun about the mid-season transfers already and CSK would be looking for a few mid-season transfers this time around to get their balance right as their balance right now seems to be all over the place.

CSK might look for a couple of spinners and a couple of domestic Indian batsmen during the mid-season transfer window because their overseas contingent is doing well. Here are some of the players CSK might sign –

#1 Manan Vohra

Manan Vohra has not played a single game for Rajasthan Royals yet and it doesn’t seem as if he is in the scheme of things for Rajasthan going ahead. So, CSK can approach Rajasthan for acquiring Manan’s services.

Manan, if he is signed by CSK, can replace Kedar Jadhav in the XI and can bat at no. 4. He is a good player of spin and although he is not quite a power-player, he has got a wonderful range of shots against the spinners.

At this juncture when Kedar Jadhav is horribly out of form, Manan can come in and sort the middle order issues of CSK.

#2 Parthiv Patel

Although CSK’s opening pair of Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis are doing fine at the moment, if CSK signs Parthiv Patel, they can change their combination and might slot Faf du Plessis at no. 3.

Parthiv, alongside Watson, will form a left-right combination at the top of the order and Du Plessis will be back to playing the sheet-anchor role that he was playing at the start of the season.

Parthiv is someone who might not have the ability to hit huge sixes, but he is a very dangerous player in the power-play as he can easily clear the 30-yard circle on a regular basis and provide the team the impetus that they need at the start of the innings.

#3 Mayank Markande

Although CSK has already got a couple of leg spinners in Piyush Chawla and Karn Sharma, Chawla has not been able to perform up to his potential yet. The problem with Chawla is that he doesn’t really look to beat the batsman in the air. His trajectory is flat most of the time and he depends on the surface to help him a great deal.

Karn and Markande, on the other hand, might not be as experienced as Chawla, but they can get the ball up and down and might beat the batsman in the air. Markande bowls even slower than Karn and while he might go for a few runs because of his tendency to give the ball a lot of air, he can be a wicket-taking option for CSK.

#4 Jayant Yadav

CSK might think about going for Jayant Yadav as well who is a part of the Mumbai Indians squad at the moment, but he has not played any game in IPL 2020 yet and hence, among the players who can be traded mid-season.

The reasoning behind roping Jayant in is the fact that he is an off spinner and hence, he will spin the ball in a different direction as compared to the other spinners that CSK currently has.

Out of the 6 specialist spinners CSK currently has in their squad, 3 are leg spinners and 3 are left arm spinners. So, an off spinner can probably add a different dimension to the CSK attack.
