4 overseas player combination CSK could try once Mahesh Theekshana joins the team

Chennai Super Kings won the game against Lucknow Super Giants to open their account. The team will be strengthened by the arrival of Maheesh Theekshana and Sisanda Magala shortly. More importantly, Theekshana would beef up the already strong spin attack. On that note, here, we take a look at four overseas player combination that CSK could try once Mahesh Theekshana joins the team.

1) Maheesh Theekshana

It is obvious that the Sri Lankan spinner will walk straight into the XI. In all probability, he would replace Kiwi all-rounder Mitchell Santner in the playing XI.

Theekshana can bowl at various stages of an inning. It is a big plus for MS Dhoni, who might have to deal with young pacers who could go down on confidence at times.

2) Moeen Ali

Moeen Ali is a big asset for CSK, especially at the Chepauk Stadium. He was one of the game-changers for the franchise against CSK. Hence, he is a part of the overseas player combination that CSK could try once Mahesh Theekshana joins the team.

The English all-rounder must step up with the bat. He has shown signs of the same in the first two matches. Hence, he features on this list.

3) Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes‘ start to his CSK career has not been great. However, he is a class cricketer and will certainly be backed by MS Dhoni and co.

Now that Stokes is bowling, MS Dhoni might use him to open the bowling along with Deepak Chahar. This would free up a few overs for the others in the middle overs. With the bat, CSK could consider changing Stokes’ position to get the best out of him.

4) Devon Conway

Conway looked to be in good form against CSK. This makes him a good contender to seal the fourth spot. However, this would depend on other factors, too.

If the team has problems in the death overs, Sisanda Magala could come into the XI. In this scenario, Conway might be the first to face the axe.
