Chennai Super Kings will re-look at their auction strategy for IPL 2025. In this era of matchups, they lacked certain types of players, which affected them very much. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of four key acquisitions CSK must make in the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
1) A reliable left-arm pacer
Mukesh Choudhary had that promise but just after one bad game, CSK decided to drop him. If you look at Yash Dayal, his rise is one of the reasons for RCB’s solid show. Similarly, be it a foreigner or an Indian, CSK must target a fine left-arm pacer. This would help them in multiple phases of the game.
2) A game controller in the middle-overs
A controller in the middle-overs is one of the key acquisitions CSK must make in the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. Suresh Raina did that role well in the past. Daryl Mitchell was expected to do but he failed. If a player like Aiden Markram or Kane Williamson can be at No.3, Ruturaj Gaikwad could play with more freedom. Therefore, CSK must target such a player in the auctions.
3) A hit-the-deck specialist
These days, it is important for every team to have someone who can be an enforcer in the middle overs. Many batters have a weakness against this type of bowling and hence, it usually results in wickets. In this regard, CSK must target someone like Prasidh Krishna or Kuldeep Sen in the future.
4) A quality leg-spinner
A quality leg-spinner is also one of the key acquisitions CSK must make in the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. Prashant Solanki was the only option for CSK in this department. At a venue like Chepauk, it is surprising that CSK did not have a reliable leggie. They must focus on this in the coming seasons. Even a veteran like Shreyas Gopal or a youngster like Suyash Sharma could do the job.
