There is still no official news about IPL 2024. It is likely that the auctions will happen in December or maybe in January next year. Before that, the IPL trade window would also be open. Rumour mills keep running throughout the year about the Indian Premier League. Along similar lines, there are many reports and rumours about a few trade deals before the next season. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of four interesting IPL 2024 trade rumours ahead of the next season.
1) Finn Allen to Kolkata Knight Riders
As per a report, KKR is eyeing a move for Finn Allen before the next campaign. Considering he is at his base price of INR 20 Lakhs at RCB, it would be a coup if KKR can secure the youngster.
While Gurbaz is available at KKR as the wicket-keeping option, there could be further choices needed. Litton Das could be released and Jason Roy can be retained. Just as a backup for Gurbaz, KKR can try someone like Finn Allen because the Kiwi youngster has a high ceiling.
2) Nitish Rana to Lucknow Super Giants
Nitish Rana to LSG is one of the interesting IPL 2024 trade rumours ahead of the next season. Reportedly, LSG approached KKR for Nitish Rana but the franchise rejected the move.
It is understandable because Rana led KKR last season. He has also improved as a batter and with Shreyas Iyer returning, having Rana is very important to strengthen the batting. Also, it is known that Gautam Gambhir is an admirer of Nitish Rana. Rana recently switched to Uttar Pradesh at the domestic level. Hence, a number of factors might have been in play behind this thinking. However, it is unlikely to happen.
3) Kagiso Rabada to Mumbai Indians
Rabada plays for the owners of Mumbai Indians in a few other leagues. Hence, it is natural that the five-time champions are considering him for the Indian Premier League, as well. Anyways, Rabada has not been great at Punjab Kings and the Mohali-based outfit might have preferred to replace him with someone younger.
MI, though, might need the experience of Rabada. With both Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah injury-prone, having an experience man like Rabada in the setup might bode well. When both Jofra and Jasprit would be fit, Mumbai Indians can include Rabada and unleash one of the best pace attacks in the T20 format ever.
4) Devdutt Padikkal to Delhi Capitals
Devdutt Padikkal to Delhi Capitals is also one of the interesting IPL 2024 trade rumours ahead of the next season. Before the last season itself, this was in the works. However, it did not happen, and Rajasthan Royals had to eventually retain Devdutt Padikkal.
However, Yashasvi Jaiswal is now undroppable and DDP struggles to play in the middle. It would be best for both parties to part ways. Delhi Capitals could do with an extra Indian batter and it makes sense that they could be looking at someone like Devdutt. However, that further puts the rumours swirling about the future of Prithvi Shaw.
