In the past, youngsters usually used to take a few seasons to find their feet in the IPL. Also, they used to take a few seasons before they cemented their place in the XI. For instance, it took a few years for Rinku Singh before he had a defining season in IPL 2023. That said, youngsters now take less time to do well in the IPL. They are equipped with all the attributes and even franchises are wary of their potential. In this regard, we could see some young cricketers break out in IPL 2024. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of four highly-rated youngsters who could have their breakthrough season in IPL 2024.
1) Yash Dhull
Yash Dhull made his debut in IPL 2023. However, he could not do well. One of the most highly-rated youngsters right now, Yash has already made his presence felt in domestic cricket. Yes, he has been having a rough patch but that happens to every cricketer.
Yash is full of talent and IPL 2024 could be his chance to let it out. Prithvi Shaw may not get the long rope like he used to get in the past. Hence, if Yash Dhull is ready to grab his chances, he could become the next Shubman Gill of IPL.
2) Sameer Rizvi
Sameer Rizvi is also one of the highly-rated youngsters who could have their breakthrough season in IPL 2024. Chennai Super Kings usually do not over-spend on players. At least when it comes to teenage cricketers, they do not travel that territory of more than INR 5 Cr.
However, it was different with Sameer Rizvi. CSK spent more than INR 8 Cr on the player. It means he is special. Sameer has already shown his skills against spin. He is seen as a generational talent and will be watched by many in IPL 2024. It could just be his first season in the IPL but he already has the arsenal to do well. In fact, right from the first game, he could be a part of the playing XI for CSK.
3) Nitish Kumar Reddy
Last season, Nitish made his debut for SRH. Yes, it was not a memorable one but he showed promise. He could further get chances in IPL 2024.
He is an all-rounder and has a high ceiling. At SRH, he could get opportunities ahead of some of the established names. Hence, if he can make use of them, IPL 2024 could be his.
4) Harshit Rana
Harshit Rana is one of the highly-rated youngsters who could have their breakthrough season in IPL 2024. There is a reason why Harshit was retained by KKR when they released most of their pacers back into the auctions. He is talented and showed his skills last season.
Since then, Harshit has also been doing well in domestic cricket. In all likelihood, he will share the new ball with Mitchell Starc in IPL 2024. There are definitely some good learning opportunities there. If Harshit can realize his potential, it could land him on the radar of the Indian Cricket Team.
