4 former Australian Punjab Kings players whom Ricky Ponting might target again

Ricky Ponting is now the Head Coach of Punjab Kings. In the past, Ponting has shown an inclination towards Australian cricketers in IPL. It might be a good tactic to hire players whom you really know well. Ponting could do that again at Punjab, too. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of four former Australian Punjab Kings players whom Ricky Ponting might target again.

1) Marcus Stoinis

Stoinis worked with Ricky Ponting at Delhi Capitals, as well. At LSG, Stoinis was in top form. His current form as a finisher and a medium pacer is very good. Ponting could like a player of his calibre who adds tremendous balance to the outfit. Hence, he is also on this list.

2) Matt Short

Matt Short is one of the former Australian Punjab Kings players whom Ricky Ponting might target again. The all-rounder could be ideal to add balance to the side. He can play as an opener or at No.3. Since he also offers some spin-bowling, Short can be a decent investment for the side.

3) Glenn Maxwell

Maxwell’s best time at IPL happened in Punjab. However, the second stint did not go well for the player. His IPL 2024 was also very bad. However, in MLC, Maxi did well under Ponting. He could also be motivated to do well again in the IPL. Ponting rates him highly and this combination could work wonders for the side. Therefore, Maxi can be a target for Punjab Kings.

4) Jhye Richardson

Jhye Richardson is also one of the former Australian Punjab Kings players whom Ricky Ponting might target again. Ricky Ponting signed him up at Delhi Capitals but due to injury issues, Jhye Richardson hardly played. The Aussie pacer can operate in all the phases. Hence, the Aussie coach could target him again.
