Roman Reigns retained his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 39. The American Nightmare could not finish the story at the Grandest Stage of ’em All. Rhodes then challenged Roman and Solo Sikoa to a tag team match on the RAW after WrestleMania 39.
Quite surprisingly, Brock Lesnar teamed up with Cody Rhodes in the main event. However, just before the match started, Lesnar attacked Rhodes. It looks like Lesnar and Rhodes will have a feud in WWE.
This means that Rhodes will stay away from the Undisputed Universal title picture for some time. So, here’s a list of three Superstars who can dethrone Roman as the champion after Cody’s failure.
1. Seth Rollins can dethrone Roman Reigns
Seth Rollins seems to be the perfect candidate to end Roman’s reign as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Rollins has returned to winning ways as he defeated Logan Paul at WrestleMania 39.
Back at Royal Rumble 2022, Rollins took Reigns to his limit and won the match via disqualification. He is yet to receive a rematch for the same. It will be interesting to see if he gets one at Backlash.
2. Jey Uso can dethrone Roman Reigns
While most fans would feel that Solo Sikoa may betray Roman and then defeat him for the title, it looks like WWE do not rate him that highly just yet. The fact that Solo lost a match against Cody Rhodes on the RAW before WrestleMania highlights the same.
Jey Uso has not been completely willing to be a part of The Bloodline since Day 1. It would make more sense if Jey turns on Roman soon and ends his reign.
3. AJ Styles
AJ Styles has been away from WWE due to injury. The Phenomenal One has Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson by his side to match The Bloodline. Styles has held every major title in WWE except the Universal Championship.
Although Styles has not been in the world title scene for a few months now, fans would not mind seeing him dethrone Roman as the champion and have a final reign as world champ before retirement.
