3 West Indies players who could be replacement signings in IPL 2024

West Indies is back in form and is now seen as one of the favourites for the 2024 T20 World Cup. At the same time, like in the past, some of the West Indian cricketers are gaining prominence in the IPL, as well. The likes of Alzarr Joseph and Rovman Powell earned good money at the IPL 2024 Auctions while there is excitement surrounding Shamar Joseph’s IPL debut. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three West Indies players who could be replacement signings in IPL 2024.

1) Odean Smith

Odean Smith spent all his time on the bench at Gujarat Titans last season. At the IPL 2024 Auctions, he was unsold. That said, he could still be a part of IPL 2024.

Smith is a destructive batter and gives a lot of value with the ball, as well. He adds terrific balance to a T20 side. If any team has injury issues and they are in need of a big-hitting all-rounder, Odean would be the answer.

2) Akeal Hosein

Akeal Hosein is one of the West Indies players who could be replacement signings in IPL 2024. He is one of the best T20 bowlers in the game right now. Hence, it was a surprise that he went unsold.

Teams such as RCB and MI do not have an established spinner. If they get a chance to pick a replacement player, Akeal could be at the top of the list. Along with the ball, he can also be very useful with the bat.

3) Jason Holder

Jason Holder’s last few seasons in IPL have not gone great. Hence, he went unsold at the recent IPL Auctions. That said, he is an experienced candidate and could still have demand.

Especially if any all-rounder gets injured, teams could sign Holder. He is decent with the ball in the powerplay and also adds depth to the batting. Hence, he is on this list.
