For a few years now, there have been complaints of KKR not picking local cricketers. To be fair with KKR, West Bengal was also not giving the best talent to the country. However, things have changed now. A few top cricketers have emerged out of the state. KKR can surely target a few of those. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three West Bengal cricketers KKR might target in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
1) Mukesh Kumar
Mukesh Kumar is an under-rated pacer in the Indian Premier League. In the last two seasons, he has actually been doing well for Delhi Capitals. Of course, he must improve on his consistency to become more reliable.
Nevertheless, now that KKR has a trusted pacer in Harshit Rana, they could afford to have someone like Mukesh Kumar. The Bengal pacer has more experience and could complete the pace attack.
2) Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami is one of the West Bengal cricketers KKR might target in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. After the initial seasons of his IPL career, Shami never played for Bengal. For probably the best cricketer to come out of the state after Sourav Ganguly, this is actually a big surprise.
KKR does not have a big purse but they could afford to spend big on a pacer. They could target someone like Shami who will add experience to the side. Around him, the likes of Harshit Rana could develop further and become an asset for KKR and also Team India.
3) Shahbaz Ahmed
The former RCB cricketer did well for SRH last season. He managed to provide a few important wickets and also contributed with the bat.
KKR needs to replace Anukul Roy and Shahbaz could be a fine option here. On tracks that turn square, he can be added to the spin attack for more variety.
