Having a good opening combination goes a long way in helping teams gain positive momentum in a game. 1) Rajasthan Royals (Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler)
Rajasthan Royals looks to have the most complete opening combination in IPL 2024. The team has had a similar combination in the last few seasons, as well. In Jaiswal and Buttler, RR has a duo who can take the game away from the opposition in just six overs.
While Buttler is great against pace and spin, Jaiswal is excellent with his intent and game against spin. The duo also offers a right-left combination which helps the team in tackling various matchups.
2) Royal Challengers Bangalore (Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli)
When you take a look at the numbers, the RCB duo was one of the best last season. However, not many rated them to do so well. That said, Virat and Faf are two of the most skilful batters in the league. It was just about correcting their intent and they did that to perfect last season.
Nevertheless, playing spin is still a concern for these two. They tackled this by playing pace in a more aggressive manner in IPL 2023. Teams might use this against them in IPL 2024.
3) Chennai Super Kings (Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad)
CSK is one of the teams with the best openers in IPL 2024. Both these players were successful in delivering the trophy for CSK in IPL 2023.
However, Conway’s form is not great at the moment. That said, CSK is likely to back him. If he still does not find the form, there is a backup in the form of Rachin Ravindra.
