Gautam Gambhir is all set to become the next Head Coach of Team India. It was in IPL 2024 that he helped KKR win its third title. Now, Gambhir will try and bring some tactics from the blueprint at KKR to the Indian dressing room. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three successful strategies at KKR that Gautam Gambhir might bring to Team India.
1) Pinch-hitters in the top-order
It was Gautam Gambhir who somewhat gave life to this strategy in the IPL. While teams did use a pinch-hitter, not many dared to use one as an opener. And Gambhir backed this tactic until it paid off for him.
In the Indian Team, too, Gambhir could think of this tactic. Of course, he needs to bring out the best in bowlers who can deliver with the bat. For the T20I side, at least, Gambhir might consider using this strategy.
2) A defensive spin attack
Using a defensive spin attack is one of the successful strategies at KKR that Gautam Gambhir might bring to Team India. In Varun CV and Sunil Narine, KKR had a spin attack that could bowl defensive lines and lengths.
Always, it is said to attack the batters. However, more often than not, the batters tend to dominate the bowlers. It is here that having a good defensive attack in the spin department could help a side. Gautam Gambhir could try this out for the Indian Team.
3) Frontloading the bowling attack
At times, KKR opted to use Andre Russell in the death overs. Of course, it had a lot to do with how the KKR bowling unit was constructed.
However, Gamnbhir and his team did not back off from bringing on their best bowlers at the initial stages of the innings. This helped them in certain cases and removed strong batters to reduce impact in the death overs.
