3 strategic changes Delhi Capitals must make to win their first game of IPL 2024

Delhi Capitals lost their second game of IPL 2024 on Thursday. Although it is not a sign of panic as yet, the management will be keen to open their scoring soon. There is a lot of scope for tactical changes to be made. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three strategic changes Delhi Capitals must make to win their first game of IPL 2024.

1) Seperate David Warner and Mitchell Marsh at the top

David Warner and Mitchell Marsh are destructive players. However, DC has a brittle middle-order. Since these Aussies are power-centres, it is better that they are separated in the top-order.

Mitchell Marsh could come in at No.3. He has done well at this slot for Australia, as well. This will make the middle-overs more efficient for Delhi Capitals. Any Indian can take up the opening slot and try to make use of the field restrictions.

2) Give a chance to proven domestic talents

Giving a chance to the proven domestic talents is one of the strategic changes Delhi Capitals must make to win their first game of IPL 2024. Prithvi Shaw, Yash Dhull and Kumar Kushagra are some of the talented cricketers who are yet to get a chance at DC.

Abishek Porel and Ricky Bhui are good but the management must consider the past records of some players, as well. In this regard, ideally, Prithvi Shaw and Yash Dhull should be getting some games for the franchise.

3) Sign a lower-order power-hitter as a replacement signing

While Delhi Capitals have announced a replacement for Lungi Ngidi, they are yet to do it for Harry Brook. Also, there is no news regarding the fitness of Jhye Richardson.

If Delhi has to sign a replacement, it appears that there is some support is needed in the lower middle-order. Tristan Stubbs is good but he is inexperienced. Hence, someone like Jimmy Neesham or Mark Chapman could be ideal for the team.
